12 Christmas Promises Your Kids Need to Hear

If you read the last post, which gave suggestions for using the song, “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” in a new way this Christmas, then you noticed the last suggestion. Let me refresh your memory: On the twelfth day of Christmas, give your true love 12 scriptural promises. Here are twelve Scriptures you can give to your true love (a spouse, child, friend, or other relative) to invite the Lord to share your holiday season:

  1. bibleJoshua 1:5b (niv): “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
  2. Psalm 32:8 (nlt): “The Lord says, “‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.’”
  3. Psalm 34:8 (nlt): “Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!”
  4. Psalm 59:17 (esv): “O my Strength, I will sing praises to you, for you, O God, are my fortress, the God who shows me steadfast love.”
  5. Jeremiah 29:11 (niv): “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
  6. Jeremiah 31:33b (niv): “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
  7. Isaiah 40:31 (nlt): “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”
  8. Isaiah 41:10 (esv): Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
  9. High-Resolution-Christmas-Images-FreeIsaiah 58:11 (niv): “The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
  10. Zephaniah 3:17 (nlt): “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
  11. John 14:2-3 (esv): “In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
  12. Philippians 4:6-7 (esv): “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

And don’t forget: those promises are for you too. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
